Ghana, a colorful and particularly welcoming country, is distinguished by its natural and cultural diversity. This West African country has a reputation for being the perfect destination for a first trip to the African continent.
Discover Ghana while supporting the local community in our volunteer projects! Our volunteering trip combines a complete cultural immersion, unique traditional experiences and the opportunity to develop professional and human skills!
The local organization with which we collaborate shares our values and responds to the real needs of its community. We take care to protect vulnerable populations in our choice of activities and we make sure that our volunteering projects will have positive impacts that will continue over time.
The relationships you will develop on this trip will probably follow you all your life, whether it is with the local community or with the other volunteers! You will certainly create memorable memories through authentic and human experiences.
Our solid partnership with a local organization allows us to support its community projects at a very low cost. The costs cover your accommodation, food and transport, as well as all the support before, during and after the trip. Part of the costs will be used to purchase equipment for the projects according to the priorities once we'll be there.
Our local team as well as our guide are dedicated to ensuring your safety, comfort and pleasure throughout your volunteering trip. Have fun and enjoy your trip to the fullest!
Our local partner is a school located in a small village near Cape Coast, a beautiful colonial town bordered by the sea. The school serves a hundred children in the village at pre-school and primary level and provides them with education, care and food. The aim of the school is to support families who have to work full time and cannot pay for child care or education, which forces them to bring their children to dangerous work environments.
During your volunteer trip, it is suggested that you participate in at least 2 hours of volunteer work per day (Monday to Friday) in order to create memorable memories with the local community and to really contribute to its development. You will also have the option of participating in one or many projects of your choice!
* When booking, please indicate the project(s) that interest you in the “Additional information” box.
Whether you are a teacher or have no experience in this field, this project is open to anyone interested in sharing their knowledge and having fun!
The school takes place from 9 AM to 3 PM and you are free to choose your working hours. During the day, you can assist the teachers and organize educational activities for the children. The rest of the day can be dedicated to preparing academic activities or simply taking care of children, playing with them, serving meals, etc.
Do you have a particular interest for any sport or any other special activity? Children will be very happy if you would share your passion and skills with them! They love special activities like sports, homework and reading clubs, art workshops, etc. The school also has its own soccer team, the fearsome Footy Tom FC! Go have fun with them and participate in their training!
Are you an occupational therapy student or a professional who would like to develop your practice in a culturally different context? This project is for you! An occupational therapist from Quebec (member of the Ordre des ergothérapeutes du Québec) will accompany and support you in your practice.
Occupational therapy services will be offered to a pediatric clientele and will include the assessment of their needs, as well as interventions to prevent and support their development.
Welcome to Ghana! Your tour starts as soon as you arrive at Accra airport, where we will welcome you with open arms!
We will then head to Cape Coast where you can rest and enjoy the day with our local host family.
On your first day of volunteering, we will introduce you to the community and the staff you will be working with for the next 2 weeks. We will also be more than happy to teach you more about the culture and customs of Ghana!
You will have the opportunity to participate in one or more projects named above (education, sports and special activities, occupational therapy) during your volunteering trip. The schedule is variable and can be adapted according to your preferences.
You will have the chance to participate in several cultural activities (included) in your free time: campfires, percussion lessons, traditional dances, visit to the port and fishing boats, etc.
In addition, we will take you to visit Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The moving visit of this historic monument is a must to learn more about the slavery era in Ghana.
During the weekend, you are free to explore the region as you wish! It is time to discover the magnificent beaches, forests and jungles of Ghana! Several options are available for you: walk over the jungle on the famous suspended bridge in Kakum National Park, explore the colorful local markets, discover the stilt village of Nzulezo, and much more!
As the weekend activities are optional, the costs incurred will be entirely at your expense.
Please consult us for more details on additional activities available in Ghana.
Continuation of volunteer projects and included activities.
We will bring you to the airport to say our goodbyes. See you on the next adventure!
We will stay with a local family in Cape Coast, this beautiful coastal city of Ghana. The accommodation is located a few minutes’ walk from several amenities (grocery store, ATM, restaurants) and the famous Cape Coast Castle! You will have the chance to discover the neighborhood and admire the work of local fishermen on the beach.
Participants will share spacious mixed rooms with 2 beds each, which have a hook on the ceiling to hang your mosquito net. The house has running water, but in the event of a power outage, a large basin that collects rainwater will allow you to continue going about your personal care without problems.
In short, our accommodation will assure you comfort, security and convenience.
